The CDI New Opportunities Programme has been set up to provide customised business support, coaching, development and access to contacts for businesses like yours. Each company on the programme will receive support tailored to its needs and you’ll have access to experts on topics such as:

  • IP, contracts and legal issues
  • Finance and funding
  • International trade
  • Cross-platform development
  • Entrepreneurship, business management and coping with growth

The cost of the programme is fully funded by Creative Sheffield but there are a limited number of places. Being accepted onto the programme means making a commitment of time and effort over a period of up to six months.

CDI Alliance, which was set up in July 2011 to deliver economic sector development and business support activity, has won a major contract in South Yorkshire.

This month CDI Alliance signed a contract with Sheffield City Council to launch and project manage a new business support initiative, the CDI New Opportunities Programme, on behalf of Creative Sheffield (the economic development organisation for Sheffield City Council). The first of 2013s’ Onlincolnshire third Thursday events at Lincoln Drill Hall, kicks off at 8.30am on 17th January with Nick Wild, Joint Managing Director from 360 Degrees Media Ltd based in London. He will share his experience of developing YouTube channels, as well generating more income through the equity in your business.

Nick is an senior media executive and entrepreneur with over 25 years experience in developing, financing and producing projects in music, online and in film.

A report from Future Copyright

Yesterday I was lucky enough to get along to a very special day-long event co-hosted by the CI KTN and the UK Science and Innovation Network, entitled Future Copyright: Access All Areas? In essence, the aim of the day was to bring a range of people from across Europe to respond to Professor Ian Hargreaves’ Digital Opportunity report and to Richard Hooper’s plans for the Copyright Hub. I say “range of people” and it really was: developers, content industry professionals, entrepreneurs, creative practitioners and policy makers. Ditto when I say “from across Europe”; there were attendees from, if memory serves, Germany, Finland, Italy, France, the Netherlands and Poland. Read the rest of this entry »
